Structure of your First Practice Visit
Our process begins with a preliminary interview with you, the dentist.
We want to get to know you and to discover the problems, potentials, and goals you see for your practice. Based on our discussion, we create customized questionnaires for you and your team. Not only are these informative for us, they spur everyone to really think carefully about what works and what doesn't for the practice, and for themselves.
Next we examine your practice's statistics - a complete set works best - thoroughly review the questionnaires, and assess the state of your practice. All this gives us the raw material for a very productive and powerful first visit.
Observation is a powerful tool. That's why we invest quality time on our initial visit watching your team in action. We'll meet and interact with team members, observe patient exams, consultations, and treatment delivery, and review your current organizational systems. This full immersion in your world helps us truly understand your practice's climate and culture.
Analysis of your current organizational systems from our unique behavioral perspective provides valuable insights. Many systems in dentistry are out-dated, ineffective or a confusing mishmash of labor-intensive tasks. Scheduling protocols, huddles, team meetings, and practice-wide use of information technology are prime areas for reform and improvement. We also assess your Perio Program, facilitation in hygiene, marketing effectiveness, new-patient visits, and accounts-receivable management to get a comprehensive overview of your practice's strengths, weaknesses, and most important areas to leverage your efforts.
After our observation day, we create an agenda for our first team meeting, during which we share our observations, address issues, provide training and co-create an action plan. Your entire team will be involved in this process, co-diagnosing the current condition of your practice and mapping specific steps to bring the practice to a healthier, more productive and harmonious state.
With an over-arching strategic plan, we can then begin taking the necessary steps towards meeting your goals. We identify the skills and training most needed along each step of the way, customize the training programs and resources we offer to fit your particular needs, and integrate positive change into your daily processes to ensure that you keep moving forward.
We acknowledge that the first step on any journey is by far the most important. Choosing the right path depends on what you know about where you are, where you want to be, and finding the best way to get there. By necessity, our first in-office consultation has an open, flexible structure. We gather information about how your practice currently runs, identify, prioritize and address the most serious immediate problems, and in close cooperation with you and your team we develop a plan for moving forward.
